The Supreme Court on Tuesday reprimanded the Uttar Pradesh government over the way of dealing with child trafficking cases and issued extensive guidelines to follow the states to prevent such crimes. The bench of Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice R Mahadevan ordered the lower courts to complete the hearing of child trafficking cases in 6 months.
What did the court say?
The apex court said, “High courts across the country are instructed to know the status of pending cases in child trafficking cases. After this, in 6 months the case will be directed to complete the case and hear day by day.”
In which case the Supreme Court reprimanded?
The displeasure of the Supreme Court came to light while hearing a case, in which a child smuggled was handed over to a couple from Uttar Pradesh, who wanted the son. While canceling the bail of the accused, the Supreme Court reprimanded both the Allahabad High Court and the Uttar Pradesh government for the way of dealing with the case. The Supreme Court said, “The accused wanted a son and bought a son for Rs 4 lakh.” If you want a son… then you cannot buy a smuggled child. He knew that the child was stolen. ”
