Two years after the beginning of the civil war in Sudan, the RSF militia, fighting against the military government, announced the formation of a counter government in the country. “On this anniversary, we proudly announce the establishment of the government of peace and unity, a broad coalition that reflects the true face of Sudan,” said RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Daglo on Teleglam.
Daglo also announced the introduction of a new currency and the issue of new identity cards. The general made a six -sided document on the counter government, which the news agency AFP was available. It says that it is not a “parallel state”, but the “only possible future” for the Sudan. His government will provide “all over the country” all basic services, including education, health care and justice.
Millions are on the run
Sudanese de facto head of the state Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and his former deputy Daglo have been fighting for power in Sudan for two years. The north and east of the country are under the control of al-Burhan’s military government. Large areas of the south, the western region of Darfur, are controlled by the RSF, Daglos Miliz.
According to helpers, the struggles between the government troops and the paramilitary militia RSF have led to the world’s largest humanitarian crisis. Human rights groups accuse both sides of war crimes. According to UN, tens of thousands of people have been killed in the conflict. Millions of people are threatened on the run and acute hunger.
Baerbock is reminiscent of the war
Just a few hours before the RSF operator’s announcement, several states had warned of a division of Sudan. They rejected “all the projects (…) that would endanger the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity” of Sudan, shared states of an international conference in London on the situation in the African country.
In their final declaration, Great Britain, Germany, France, the EU and the African Union also emphasized that the “non -interference of external actors” was of the greatest importance for Sudan. “The priority must be to achieve an immediate and permanent ceasefire and end the conflict,” she said.
The participant states had already announced additional help commitments of more than 800 million euros for the Sudan at the conference. Germany agreed 125 million euros. The executive Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens) at the beginning of the conference warned against ignoring the consequences of the crisis in Sudan.
