Even in the duel between the promoted teams, Stuttgart’s second team has nothing to gain away from home. The coach doesn’t recognize his team just four days after the Bielefeld victory.
His team shows two faces: Markus Fiedler.

The 1:3 in Hanover was the third away defeat in a row for VfB Stuttgart’s U21s. After two previous goalless defeats (0:4 in Cottbus and 0:2 in Dresden), they managed to score again away from home, but Wahid Faghir’s goal to make it 1:2 – he scored in all three appearances – was, however, nothing more than a flash in the pan.
Coach Markus Fiedler was appropriately served after the game. “A needed day for us. Tuesday’s performance was so unified and homogeneous, today’s was the complete opposite,” he said, referring to the remarkable 3-0 win against Arminia Bielefeld just four days earlier.
VfB doesn’t do anything with its possession of the ball
“All in all, we made far too many mistakes, so the win is okay for Hannover,” said Fiedler MagentaSport and specified: “Hannover were straightforward, consistent and determined in the transition game and therefore created a good number of opportunities. We have to blame ourselves for the fact that overall – despite a significant increase in the proportion of the game – we were too rarely compelling and in bad moments conceded goals.”
Once again the young Swabians didn’t get off to a good start and once again they conceded a goal with their head. A pattern that runs like a common thread through previous appearances. The table speaks for itself: VfB II leads the home table, while Stuttgart are last in terms of away results.
So far, defeats have always been followed by a good reaction in the form of winning points. Now we have to show that against VfL Osnabrück. The only problem: the game is away at Bremer Brücke. Kick-off is on Sunday evening at 7.30 p.m.
