Manufacturer Sony has a massive problem with its Playstation Network. Services are offline worldwide – players cannot access their accounts.
It started around 2 a.m. on Tuesday night: Since then, all Playstation services from the console manufacturer Sony have been down. For players this means: Online games via Sony’s network are currently not possible and users cannot access their account management. The Playstation Store is also disrupted, as the official status page shows.
According to Sony, the platforms affected by the outage are the PS Vita, PS3, PS4 and PS5. The web services are also down. “You may have difficulty logging in or creating a PlayStation Network account,” writes Sony.
It is not known what caused the service to fail. Nor when the Playstation Network will work again. Sony simply writes on its Japanese X account: “We thank you for your patience while we carry out investigation and restoration work.” The company does not disclose any further information.
As the IT magazine “heise online” reports, this is not the first disruption to the Playstation Network – but it is the longest. In 2021, the games network was down for around an hour.
The failures come at a bad time for Sony. Last week the company started selling its Playstation 5 Pro. The company wants to increase its sales with the improved PS5.
The PS5 Pro is said to have 45 percent more graphics performance than the previous model. However, the price of around 800 euros is significantly higher than the normal PS5, which is available for around 450 euros. Despite the high price, the consoles were sold out shortly after they went on sale.
