The Slovak government has brought a law with sharper rules for NGOs through parliament. The opposition is outraged and speaks of intimidation.

In Slovakia, the parliament has decided with a narrow majority of a controversial law, the sharper rules for NGOs contains. Specifically, non -governmental organizations in the country should have to disclose their financial sources and the names of larger donors and members in the future.
While the government of the left -wing national prime minister Robert Fico described the “transparency” step, opponents rate the new law as “harassment of government critics”. The rules of July should attack if Slovak President Peter Pellegrini does not hire a veto.
The opposition criticized the step and moved parallels to Russia. Two weeks ago, several thousand people in Bratislava and other cities Slovakia protested against the law.
