Flated vehicles, automatic gunfire … Several penal establishments in the four corners of France were the target of malicious acts in the night from Monday to Tuesday. Housing and vehicles of prison administration agents have also been targeted by voluntary fires and tags. The national anti-terrorist prosecutor’s office announced at midday, take up the investigation. 20 minutes takes stock of the situation.
A penitentiary center targeted by heavy weapon fire …
The most serious attack targeted the Toulon-La Farlède penitentiary center (Var): fifteen impacts were noted on the establishment’s door and more “of a dozen sockets were found” after a “heavy weapon attack”, of Kalashnikov, said the Toulon prosecutor. The facts took place around midnight 40, by “several individuals who came in vehicle”, specifies the magistrate.
… And several other targeted fires
In parallel, several other prisons have been the target of voluntary fires, in particular by setting fire to staff vehicles. Thus, in Villepinte, in Seine-Saint-Denis, three vehicles, including two belonging to prison agents, were burned on Monday evening. The video surveillance images made it possible to see that the two authors entered the enclosure through an earth hill, each burning a vehicle, the third was reached by spreading.
At the Aix-Luynes penitentiary center, two vehicles were burnt down, as well as the Eris portal (Regional Intervention and Security Team). In Valencia, in Drôme, vehicles were previously tagged before being burnt down. In Nanterre, a fire targeted a vehicle parked in the parking lot of the remand center. Official accommodation has also been targeted in several places in the territory.
During the night of Sunday to Monday, fires had already affected the car park of the National School of Penitentiary Administration (ENAP) in Agen and the Penitentiary Center of Réau (Seine-et-Marne), according to several sources close to the file.
The planned terrorist track
In the middle of the day, the national anti -terrorist prosecution (PNAT) has announced to take up the various attacks carried out since Sunday against prisons but also the school of the prison administration. The qualifications selected have not yet been revealed.
According to a source close to the file, there is little doubt that “it all seems coordinated”. There remains the question of motivations: are these attacks in connection with the strategy against narcobanditism, as the Minister of Justice himself suggests? Are they linked to ultra -ke? Anarchist slogans have been found on certain vehicles. At this stage of investigations, no track is privileged.
The investigations were entrusted to the DGSI, to the anti-terrorist sub-department of the central management of the PJ and to the zonal departments of the national police, specifies the PNAT.
What are the reactions?
Bruno Retailleau, the Minister of the Interior, asked the prefects to “strengthen the protection of agents and establishments without delay”. “The state’s response should be relentless. Those who attack prisons and agents are intended to be locked in these prisons and monitored by these agents, “he continued on X. He is expected with Gérald Darmanin in the afternoon in Toulon.
“These criminal acts are a frontal attack against our institution, against the Republic and against the agents who serve it on a daily basis,” denounced Fo Justice, demanding “a strong, immediate and unambiguous response of the state”. “We are waiting for an action coordinated by the Ministers of Justice and the Interior,” said Wilfried Fonck, national secretary of UFAP Unsa Justice.
