The State Office for Taxes and Finance in Saxony warns against false tax assessments. The recipients would be asked to pay additional income tax at short notice, within a week, as the state office in Dresden announced. A Saxon tax office with an incorrect address or the “financial authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany” are identified as the sender. Also noticeable in the fake notices were the telephone and fax numbers given, which did not match the location and began with 090-.
Real tax assessments, on the other hand, are always issued by the respective Saxon tax office with the correct and complete address, it said. In addition, there is no term “financial authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany”. In addition, the Saxon tax offices only have bank connections with the Deutsche Bundesbank.
