We live times in which the development rate of AI overflows, in many cases, driven by innovations that are transforming sectors of all kinds, from industrialists, to services or creatives both public and private. These technologies are also consolidated in Spain, in the productive and social fabric, increasing productivity, transforming the labor market and improving the quality of life.
There are many fields that are living a real revolution with the arrival of AI. A clear example is the world of image generation and editing. Examples such as GPT-4O, launched in March 2025, allow them to create them and modify them from instructions in natural language.
This model integrates visual and textual processing to get images with high coherence and precision. The ease of use, combined with the ability to refine iteratively from new inputs, is transforming the audiovisual sector and digital advertising, which translates into a reduction in entire days of image technicians and postproduction to a matter of a few minutes.
IA challenges and opportunities
It is clear that what is known as generative artificial intelligence has meant a boom economic since 2023. What is then the next step? It is time to talk about processes automation through autonomous agents. Models like Auto-GPT, Operator either Manus They demonstrate that AI can generate their own instructions and manage tasks in an iterative form without constant human intervention.
These agents are effective in data collection and in the preparation of reports -Openai Deep Research, Gemini Deep Research- as well as in programming tasks that require detecting and correcting errors. However, when it comes to complex tasks that involve multiple tools, current systems are still very limited, since most operate in isolated environments without knowing the various applications available in our desk or company.
A very interesting step, which is expected to see in 2025, is the integration with operating systems. A good example is Model Context protocol (MCP), an open standard that allows the agents to access in a homogeneous way to databases, applications and APIS, facilitating interoperability between different systems. Companies like Microsoft with Copilot Studio or Apple with Apple Intelligencie have promised to advance in this direction, although the progress achieved is still very incipient. Nor can we forget, among the current trends, the execution of the AI locally on our devices instead of depending on remote servers, which makes the process more expensive and compromises privacy.
In this sense, companies like Qualcomm and Apple are leading this initiative. In the specific case of Qualcomm, the multinational has presented chips such as the Snapdragon 8 Elitewhich incorporate specialized neural units to execute complex models directly into the mobile. This allows to analyze voice, images and context in real time, reducing latency and protecting user privacy by avoiding data transmission to the cloud.
Finally, robotics, especially that of humanoid robots, is progressing rapidly. Although they have always been protagonists of science fiction, every day they approach reality. The last year has witnessed titanic advances, especially in terms of robot manufacturing costs such as Unitree (16,000 dollars) or Tesla Optimus Gen 3, which could have an output cost of $ 8,000.
However, there are still many challenges ahead. One of the most important is the development of a robust control and navigation system, which allows the robot to perform any domestic or industrial task with precision and speed. It was thought that the improvements in video generation such as Sora or Vista 2 of Google would allow the robot to dream of new environments in which, through reinforcement learning, try new behaviors. But the latest advances suggest that you still need years to unlock the most important and profitable use cases.

All these innovative advances lead us to talk about the radical change they are producing in our society. It is estimated that up to 65% of jobs could be assisted or complemented by AI, which implies that more than half of the workers will see their functions transformed by automating routine tasks. Jobs that were previously common – trader, operators of call centerspostproduction or customer service technicians – are already disappearing. This increase in productivity could be especially key in the public sector, where the automation of bureaucratic tasks would allow officials to accelerate and modernize services for citizens.
Also professions that require human intervention for complex tasks, such as editors, transporters, or travel agents, will continue to exist in the medium term, although a strong reduction in the number of people necessary to perform them is expected.
However, sectors linked to computerization and automation such as consultants, programmers and data analysts will experience a boom, while manual professions that require high precision, such as plumbers, electricians or firefighters, will be increasingly valued due to their difficulty in being automated. Finally, fields with a strong human component, such as health, educational, commercial and public relations, will continue to be robust in the face of digitalization.
The IA revolution is radically transforming the technological, economic and labor panorama in Spain. A reality that will begin to be part of our lives and that we should not fear, but of which it is important that we begin to be participants. We have the responsibility to embrace this change and use it effectively and responsibility to forge a more prosperous future.
