As the Schwaben Nord police headquarters announced on Monday, the Augsburg criminal police have taken over the investigation into the case. According to the statement, “a dangerous physical injury caused by pyrotechnics occurred in the WWK Arena” around 10 p.m. Specifically, it is about an incident that occurred on the 4th matchday in the Friday evening game between FC Augsburg and FSV Mainz 05 (2:3) on September 20th.
At the beginning of the second half, several people set off pyrotechnic objects in various places in the Augsburg North Stand, where, among others, the FCA Ultras are standing. According to the police, two people were injured: a 27-year-old man suffered burns to the head area, and a 20-year-old woman suffered smoke inhalation.
The people who set off the pyrotechnics can be clearly seen in the pictures, but their faces are covered. That’s why the police are asking stadium visitors for information in their message.
