Second division club Cologne has to pay properly because of his fans’ pyrover. The DFB calls for a six -figure sum.
The 1. FC Köln is asked to pay for several violations of its supporters from the DFB. The club has to pay a total of 316,400 euros. The sports court of the German Football Association (DFB) thus punished four cases of unsportsmanlike behavior.
The highest individual penalty affects the DFB Cup game against Hertha BSC on December 4, 2024. Numerous pyrotechnic objects were ignited in the Cologne block immediately before kick-off. For this alone, the sports court set a punishment of 290,600 euros. However, since the association was able to identify two responsible persons, the amount was reduced by half.
The DFB assumes that 1. FC Köln will pass on the punishment to the determined perpetrators. It was also emphasized that additional sanctions could follow in other serious incidents with pyrotechnics – including requirements that go beyond fines.
In addition to the cup game, the use of pyrotechnics was also an issue in several league apartments. 15,600 euros were due for the home game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern on December 22, 2024. In the game against Elversberg on January 25, 2025, the DFB imposed a penalty of 1,800 euros, for the away game at Eintracht Braunschweig on February 1, 2025, another 8,400 euros were added.
The club may use up to 105,500 euros of the total amount for its own measures to improve safety and prevention of violence. This use must be proven to the DFB by December 31, 2025.
