Since then, testimonies of support have flocked without discontinuing.
Her mother Mélanie “can’t come back”. Hundreds of people have expressed their support, especially on social networks. And participated in the kitty put online by the family yesterday Tuesday April 15. “We don’t think about taking death insurance for a child, it’s not in the order of things,” she said.
At the 10th anniversary of Julia, on March 5, Mélanie and Julia displayed radiant smiles, their painted faces to celebrate the event at their home Pont-l’Évêque. A month later, the mother crosses an authentic drama.
A flu combined with an infection
During this Easter holidays, Julia began to complain about stomach aches. The situation is getting worse. On Friday April 18, his condition even seems to be worrying.
It is taken care of by the SAMU, first transferred to Compiègne then helicoptered to the Amiens hospital center before a last emergency transfer in Paris. “We learned that she first had the flu before contracting a staphylococcus who took advantage of her weakness,” describes the mother. The infection could not be diagnosed “until the last minute”, despite research made “throughout its hospitalization”.
During her care, “her heart first weakened,” describes the mother. The little girl was then connected to an artificial heart, “but the infection was too strong and attacked other organs”. In particular the lungs, which earned Julia “to be placed under artificial respirator”, from the start of its care. Her kidneys then let go, she is also placed under dialysis. Despite all these care, “her tension remained very low, she couldn’t go up,” says the mother.
On Monday, when his pupils no longer react, a brain scanner is made to him. “The verdict fell, it was necessary to say goodbye before she was in cerebral death,” says Mélanie, a broken heart.
“We will never know”
On the origin of this fatal infection, the mother explains “that we will never know”. Whether by contact or in ingestion, the possibilities are multiple.
The mother, today “under anxiolytics”, assures “that there are no words to describe on the pain” that she feels “as she is immense”. “Julia heard us”, just before leaving, “she says,” I promised to stay strong and take care of her little sister “.
In this ocean of misfortune, the supports received are a small drop, certainly, but welcome. “It is heart warm of course,” comments Mélanie, surprise in the number of reactions. If she “cannot answer everyone”, she wants to send to all their authors “1000 thanks”.
The date of the funeral is not yet known. But Mélanie lets her wish that they take place in family intimacy.
