Ollanta Humala: Peru’s former president for 15 years in prison for money laundering

Former Peruvian President Ollanta Humala has been sentenced to 15 years in prison in connection with the corruption scandal for the Brazilian building group. The court found the 62-year-old of the Money laundering for guilty, since he received illegal grants from Odebrecht and the Venezuelan government for two presidential campaigns.

Humala’s lawyers announced that it would appeal against the judgment. The public prosecutor had called for a prison sentence of 20 years for Humala, which was President of the South American country from 2011 to 2016.
