Geipel and Becker win 60th ADAC Rallye Erzgebirge
31.03.2025, 2:42 p.m.
Philip Geipel and co-pilot Katrin Becker (Toyota gr yaris rally2) remained cool until the end and won the 60th edition of the ADAC Rallye Erzgebirge with a lead of only 2.2 seconds. They took the lead on Saturday morning, but the cushion melted together for 0.9 seconds.
The best time in the last WP finally won. “We chose the wrong tires twice on Friday and therefore a gap of almost twelve seconds. We were able to attack fully on Saturday, it was a lot of fun driving these difficult exams from the numerous spectators. The atmosphere was great, the season opener,” said Philip Geipel. His co-pilot Katrin Becker added: “I usually don’t betray Philip. But before the last WP I said that he had to blow one out now. And Philip has sticked to that.”
On the other hand, Julius Tannert and Pirmin Winklhofer, who tried everything in the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, were able to do everything until the end, but could not set the decisive attack. “We may have been a little too careful on Saturday morning. Philip took advantage of it. After that, things went well again and we got closer and closer to the top. In the end, we were only missing two seconds, so it is in our sport,” said Julius Tannert. Third third became Dennis Rostek and Stefan Kopczyk in the ŠKODA Fabia RS Rally2 and also won the special rating DRM2 Masters for pilots from 50 years. Dennis Rostek: “We want to win the Masters and that worked out. We have tested a lot in the car in the past few months and that has paid off. Third place in the overall classification is also a great success, especially since I was not doing well on Friday. Today, it was much better,” the Bückeburger took a positive balance.
Carsten Mohe and Colin Dünker convince with class victories and top five positions
At his 25th start in the Ore Mountains, Carsten Mohe took fourth place in the Renault Clio Rally3 and won the class victory in DRM3 with a big lead, in front of the brand colleagues Wolfgang and Pitt Richter. “Overall, we went well. We sometimes had the wrong tires, sometimes a brick. But the demanding exams in the Ore Mountains never go smoothly. I know that from 25 years of experience,” emphasized the Crottendorfer Mohe.
Colin Dünker and Jonas Decker also showed an impressive performance in the Ford Fiesta Rally4. As a fifth fifth, the young team left much more powerful cars behind and became the first in the DRM4 category. Colin Dünker: “We meticulously prepared ourselves, had a perfect wrote and went into the exams aggressively. Nevertheless, I don’t know how we did it.” The Danes Lasse Karlshøj/Isabell Kvick (Peugeot 208 Rally4) ended the DRM4 competition in position, while the local heroes Sepp Wiegand and Christoph secured third place in the Opel Corsa Rally4.
In the DRM Classic, Walter Gromöller with the Opel Ascona 400 was once more the measure of all things. Together with co -driver René Meier, the veteran dominated the competition at will and won another safe victory.
Tens of thousands of viewers line the routes in the anniversary “ores”
As in previous years, the ADAC Rallye Erzgebirge was the perfect start into a DRM season. The fans saw exciting motorsport on 162 kilometers of scoring, tens of thousands experienced rapid rally action on asphalt and gravel paths or concrete slabs. The drivers were carried by the unique mood of the spectators, who cheered on all teams at designated observation points. The weather also played at the anniversary event in the Ore Mountains. A covered Saturday followed the sunny Friday, but the feared rain failed to materialize. Traditionally, the ADAC Rallye Erzgebirge ended on Saturday evening on the Stollberg market, where the top three of each class was enthusiastically received by numerous fans.
