He is considered one of the most colorful personalities in music history: a singer Freddie Mercury (1946-1991). The Barlach Kunstmuseum Wedel is showing an exhibition with more than 300 objects, photos, texts, documents and videos about the life of the “Queen” singer from October 6th to March 9th, 2025. “His courage, his love of humanity, his deep emotionality, his originality, his curiosity and his openness to other arts made him an absolute exception,” said the museum.
Freddie Mercury was born Farrokh Bulsara on September 5, 1946 in Zanzibar. His family came from India and belonged to the Parsee religious group. Together with Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon, Mercury founded one of the most innovative rock bands of all time in 1970: «Queen» wrote music history with their productivity, their unmistakable sound, their rousing live performances and their numerous concept albums, it continued. Although Freddie Mercury appeared rather shy in his private life, as a public figure he was highly flamboyant and hedonistic.
