On her podcast debut for “Copa TS,” presenter Esther Sedlaczek talked about her favorite club – but also criticized the football schedules.
Presenter Esther Sedlaczek made her debut on Tommi Schmitt’s “Copa TS” podcast. The TV author and podcaster, known for his passion for football, regularly welcomes returning guests in his episodes. Sedlaczek now also belongs to his ensemble. And the Berlin native told us directly how her enthusiasm for football developed – through Hertha BSC.
At the age of 10, Sedlaczek saw many classmates wearing Hertha jerseys at school and went to the stadium with her mother for the first time: “I just thought the stadium atmosphere was great back then and stuck with it. In the truest sense of the word and then Of course, I grew more and more connected to Berlin’s Hertha, who were simply the closest, and since then it’s simply been my club.”
Sedlaczek and Schmitt also discussed the player strike threatened by players. Due to the reforms of the Club World Cup and the Champions League, the number of games for top-level teams is increasing.
TV presenter Schmitt is certain that “more football does not mean more emotion”, but that a shortage would be good for the sport. He explained: “We run the risk of doing too much, not only for the players’ legs, but also for our football souls.” Sedlaczek joined in the criticism: “I’m totally with you. At some point you’re just exhausted and then you no longer have the anticipation.” She added with a view to the players and clubs and the new competitions that are constantly being added: “I think it’s too much.”
However, these reforms initially play no role for Hertha, because the second division team is currently a long way from the Champions League and the Club World Cup. “Of course I’m still closely following what’s happening there, what’s happened in the last few years.” She finds games like the 4-1 defeat against Elversberg on Sunday “disappointing and I wouldn’t have expected it in that form.” But she wants to remain optimistic: “I’m excited to see when Hertha will make it back into the Bundesliga.”
The presenter explained that her experiences as a football fan would also help her to sympathize with the suffering supporters of other clubs. “It’s true that if you’ve suffered a lot with a club, you’re empathetic,” said Sedlaczek.
