Actually, pistons and Timberwolves wanted to fight for victory. But in the middle of the basketball game it was about something else.
Turbulent scenes in the second quarter: The game of the Detroit Pistons at the Minnesota Timberwolves was overshadowed by a tangible discussion. Five players and two coaches were disqualified.
The trigger for the escalation was a foul on Minnesotas Naz Reid. The situation got out of control: players of both teams started and sometimes threw themselves to the ground. Reid and team -mate Donte Divincenzo were excluded by the referees, and on the side of the pistons it met Isaiah Stewart, Ron Holland II and Marcus Sasser. Head coach JB Bickerstaff and Minnesotas assistant coach Pablo Prigioni also had to leave the game prematurely.
Bickerstaff later said that the situation “went a little too far”, but it was good to see “that the boys are standing together”.
Previously, the pistons had started strongly and won a 16-point lead in the first quarter. But in the end, the team around world champion Dennis Schröder set a clear 104:126 defeat. The successful series of the past three games is torn. In the NBA table, Detroit still remains clearly on the direction of playoffs.
Dennis Schröder was again in the starting line -up and showed a solid performance with 11 points and 11 assists. However, his contribution was not sufficient to compensate for the failures. The game was also remarkable in other ways: the referees imposed twelve technical fouls-as many as in March 2005 in an NBA game.
