The president of the Junta de Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañuecotoday has taken a forceful step forward to defend the interests of the Castellanoleoneses in front of the US tariff policy that has put all Spanish producers in danger. In a regional leadership deployment, the regional leader has held several meetings at the headquarters of the Presidency with all sectors affected to articulate a common strategy that drives the community.
Thus, the regional president has proposed reinforce measures which the Executive has already adopted after the announcement of Trump’s tariffs:
- New aid to boost Business Internationalization.
- Greater financing of Current capital.
- Opening determined to New international marketss.
But Mañueco has gone further and put on the table Structural measures which correspond mainly to the Government of Pedro Sánchez, such as the immediate reinforcement of the State’s electrical infrastructure network in the region, the impulse of a singular energy and industrial framework based on renewable energy, the definitive development of the Atlantic Corridor as an ecosystem to attract investments and legal reforms to end the bureaucracy and facilitate private investment.
It is worth mentioning that Trump tariffs seriously threaten key sectors such as The automotivewhich represent about 40% of regional exports, in addition to wine, agri-food, team goods, metallic industries and the chemical-pharmaceutical sector.
That is why the president of Castilla y León has made it clear that he will defend the Castilian -Leonese companies until the end, both in his Exports Direct to the US (which suppose 3% of the total) as in the indirect ones through other EU countries, in addition to protecting regional competitiveness in other markets affected by changes in global commercial flows.
The call made by Mañueco He has managed to gather representatives of CEOE, ICEX, Chambers of Commerce, Facyl, Vitartis, Cbecyl, Cylsolar, AEICE, IGP Castellano Cheese, Avocyl, Farmaindustria, Fenin, Family Business, Urcacyl and Iberaval, together with unions (UGT and CCO) and agricultural organizations (Asaj UCCL).
Subsequently, he has managed to sit all parliamentary groups (PP, PSOE, Vox, UPL, Soria already! And Xávila), together with the Regional Federation of Municipalities and Provinces to articulate a defense strategy that protects all economic sectors of the Autonomous Community.
