Churachandpur: The 9 -year -old girl, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Churachandpur district of Manipur last week, was buried on Tuesday. The girl’s mother wept while buried the body and said that her daughter was a happy and intelligent girl. The mother said that it is difficult to believe that her child is no longer there. The woman also narrated her daughter’s recorded songs.
The students of the girl’s school paid floral bid farewell to her with moist eyes. The children sang the farewell song under the guidance of their headmaster and the body was wrapped with a traditional shawl.
There were many marks of injury on the body, blood stains
The girl went missing around 6 pm on 20 March, after which her family started searching for her. Police had said that the body of the girl was found near a relief camp for internal displaced people in the lanva TD block of the city. According to the police, there were many marks of injury and blood stains on the body of the girl, especially the throat.
Rape suspicion
Churachandpur MLA LM Khute, who attended the funeral program, condemned the incident and demanded severe punishment to the culprits. Representatives of civil society organizations were also present during this period. ‘Jomi Mother’s Association’ spokesperson Linda Kim also urged law enforcement agencies to detect criminals and bring them into the dock of justice. It is suspected that the girl was also raped. The post -mortem is done, but the report has not been made public. Many people have been detained for questioning in this case, but no arrests have been made so far.
