The chairwoman of the Harris and Walz campaign, Jen O’Malley Dillon, gave a very favorable opinion of the performance of the Democratic vice presidential candidate, the governor of Minnesota, Tim Walzduring the debate with the Republican candidate, the senator from Ohio J.D. Vancecarried by CBS News on Tuesday night.
“Tonight, Governor Walz demonstrated exactly why Vice President Harris chose him: He is a leader who cares about the issues that matter most to the American people. In the debate, Americans could see a true contrast: a man who was outspoken and focused on sharing real solutions, and a shrewd politician who spent the entire night defending the division and failures of Donald Trump.”
O’Malley noted: “On every single issue – the economy, health care, foreign policy, reproductive freedom, gun violence – Governor Walz won. She spoke passionately about the vice president’s vision for a new path forward for the country. And in what was the most critical moment of the entire debate, which came in their final exchange, he defended our Constitution, while JD Vance admitted that he had put Trump ahead of the country.”
“The governor demonstrated once again that he will be an experienced day one governing partner for Vice President Harris as they work together to achieve results for working families. And he showed that he remains a powerful force on the campaign trail, holding JD Vance accountable while sounding the alarm about Trump’s Project 2025 agenda,” O’Malley said.
“The choice the American people have to make in November was evident tonight: chart a new path forward or turn back. Vice President Harris believes the American people deserve to see her and Trump on the debate stage once again. He will be in Atlanta on October 23: Donald Trump should step forward and face the voters,” concluded the president of the Harris and Walz campaign.
