The fifth match of IPL 2025 was played between Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Punjab won this match by 11 runs. While batting first, Punjab Kings scored 243 runs in 20 overs thanks to Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten 97 innings. In response, Gujarat also played a tremendous game but could not win the match. Shreyas Iyer played stormy innings
After losing the toss, Punjab Kings started to bat first. Prabhasimran Singh and Priyansh Arya shared a 28 -run partnership for the first wicket. Kagiso Rabada gave the first blow to Punjab by getting wicketkeeper batsman Prabhasimran (5 runs) a catchout by Arshad Khan. After this, Shreyas Iyer and Priyansh Arya took the front. In his first match for Punjab, Shreyas performed brilliantly and remained unbeaten by scoring 97 runs in 42 balls. During this, he batted at a strike rate of 230.95. He hit five fours and nine sixes. With this, the right -handed batsman took a big record. He became the third batsman to score the highest score, making his debut as a captain for any team. In the end Shashank Singh scored an unbeaten 44 in 16 balls and Punjab managed to score 243 runs at the loss of 5 wickets after batting 20 overs.
Sai Sudarshan and Butler’s innings went waste
At the same time, Gujarat started chasing the target, it was very good in this match. Sai Sudarshan came to open with Shubman Gill in this match. Add 61 runs for the first wicket between the two. Gill, who had got a good start in this match, was dismissed by Maxwell by scoring 33 runs in 14 balls. Jose Butler, who came to bat at number 3, shared an 84 -run partnership with Sai Sudarshan. Sudarshan looked fast moving towards a century, but on a personal score of 74 he became a victim of Arshdeep Singh. In his 41 -ball innings, Sudarshan hit 5 fours and 6 sixes. After Sudarshan’s dismissal, Gujarat’s run speed was curbed. Jose Butler definitely put big shots in between. But Vijaykumar Vaishakh, who came to bowl as an impact player for Punjab, bowled well and got Punjab back in the match. He conceded 28 runs in 3 overs. Butler was dismissed for 54 runs in 33 balls. Sherfen Rutherford, who came to bat as an impact player, scored 46 runs.
