“If Harry leaves the field…”
FC Bayern is trembling about ailing super striker Kane

The top game of the Bundesliga between Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen ends 1-1 after 90 minutes. When referee Zwayer’s final whistle blows, top striker Kane is no longer on the pitch. He has to go down shortly beforehand. FC Bayern is worried.
FC Bayern has to worry about star striker Harry Kane before the Champions League trip to England. The 31-year-old injured his left ankle in the Bundesliga top game against Bayer Leverkusen (1-1) and was substituted shortly before the end. “If Harry leaves the field, then it’s something. It doesn’t look good,” said Munich sports director Max Eberl when watching the painful scene for Kane on the pay channel Sky, but admitted that he didn’t have any further information yet. “Now I hope it’s made of sturdy English wood.”
The German soccer record champions will compete on Wednesday (9 p.m./DAZN and in the live ticker on ntv.de) for his second Champions League preliminary round game at Aston Villa. Kane scored four goals in the famous 9-2 win against Dinamo Zagreb on matchday one. “I’m not a doctor,” said Bayern coach Vincent Kompany, saying it was “much too early” to make a prognosis. “I’ve heard what’s going on, but I hope it’s enough for Wednesday.”
Before being substituted shortly before the end, super striker Kane had not scored his own goal for the first time since moving from Tottenham Hotspur to FC Bayern in the summer of 2023. Nevertheless, he almost decided the game. His precise cross to Serge Gnabry at the beginning of the second half triggered a strange double chance, which ended with two aluminum hits within a few seconds and not with the 2-1 for FC Bayern.
Harry Kane, who has never won a club title, leads the top scorers list in the Bundesliga with five goals after five matchdays. Last season he not only won the top scorer’s crown, but with his 36 goals he also briefly eclipsed Robert Lewandowski’s historic 41 goals from the 2020/2021 season.
