The Oceanic navigator Hugo Ramón has begun this Tuesday at 5:03 p.m. This record, established in 25 hours and six minutes by the Azuree of Eduardo Horrach in September 2020, is in the sight of Ramón, who prepares for the mini transat 2025.
At the time of the game, the wind blew from the southwest with an intensity of 20 knots, conditions that Ramón had been waiting for four months. “We knew that today was the day, and all meteorological models indicated that to try to reduce the previous brand, we had to sail at five in the afternoon,” he explained just before letting down.
The navigator also analyzed the forecasts of the various weather models. «Some, the most optimistic, suggest that we could reduce the record in five or six hours; Others, more conservative, give us an advantage of only one hour. However, once at sea, reality may be different, ”he added.
Ramón anticipated that the most delicate point of the tour would be located in the north of the island, near Formentor, where a complicated wind transition is expected. The first miles to Cap Enderrocat were more difficult than expected, with the wind closing them gradually and making it difficult to maintain holder rumbos. However, from that point, the crystalline-majorica began to navigate almost parallel to the Azuree registry.
The Royal Yacht Club of Palma, organizer of the challenge of the Tour of Mallorca in different modalities, has activated a security protocol with follow -up points in Cabo Salinas, Capdepera, Formentor, Soller and Dragonera. Ramón’s ship is equipped with all mandatory elements for ocean regattas and emits a satellite signal that allows you to know its position at all times.
«I am 100% focused on the crossing of the Atlantic. I want to navigate in the lead and for this I need to reach a total synergy with the ship. This return to Mallorca allows me to test the material, the strategy and, above all, the connection with the crystalline-majorica in real conditions, ”Ramón concluded before sailing.
