Hannover II ends their home misery in the Eilenriedestadion

After three home defeats in a row, Hannover II was finally able to celebrate their first success in their own stadium on Saturday. But it was also the first time this season that the team was allowed to play in their Eilenriede Stadium. Will she now find her way back to the home strength of the previous season?

Third division promoted Hannover II suffered three defeats in the first three home games of the season. The games all took place in the large Heinz von Heiden Arena because the actual home venue, the Eilenriedestadion, was being renovated. On Saturday, Hannover’s second representation was finally able to compete in their own living room again and Daniel Stendel’s team promptly won 3-1 against Stuttgart II.

No home defeat in the previous season

Can the Hanoverians now build on their home strength from the promotion season? Last season 96 was unbeatable at the Eilenriedestadion. The team achieved 15 wins and two draws in 17 games. That’s why people in Hanover now have the hope of finding their old strength at home and thereby leaving the relegation places at some point.

Against Stuttgart, Stendel let his team act in wait: the guests from Swabia had a lot of the ball, but the 96 defense defended in a very disciplined manner and pressed depending on the situation. After Stuttgart’s mistakes, the team quickly switched gears. Thanks to good exploitation of opportunities, the plan worked completely.

Three players in the kicker eleven for the match day

In the 3-1 win, the goalscorer Husseyn Chakroun (kicker grade 2), captain Fynn Arkenberg (kicker grade 2) and the double assist provider Robin Kalem (kicker grade 1.5) stood out. Thanks to their good performances, all three secured their first call-up to the kicker team for the match day. As a result, Hannover II was the team that had the most players in the selection for the 8th matchday.

Nevertheless, the 96ers are in a relegation zone with just seven points after eight games. On Sunday Hannover II can compete in the Eilenriedestadion for the second time this season. Then the fourth-placed Cottbus team will be guests.
