The Culture (s) Seeds network gave, this early April, the start of the very first Gold Graines! Until May 5, young and old are invited to immerse themselves in an eclectic selection of youth works – novels, comics, manga, illustrated albums – and to give their opinion. It’s time for voting … and to make your reader voice heard!
Born out of the desire to promote children’s literature and encourage meetings between authors and readers, the price of gold is addressed to a large audience: children from 8 years old until adults eager for beautiful stories. The principle is simple: read at least one novel, a comic strip and an album illustrated among the nine works in competition, then note them on 10. Yes, you have the right to have your favorites … or your literary rants.
You can vote online (a small click is enough, the link can be found below), or slide your bulletin directly in the ballot box of your favorite media library. To not forget anything about your impressions, remember to ask for a voting book: it will accompany you throughout your readings.
The results will be revealed during a festive day on Wednesday June 4, 2025, at the Templeuve-en-Pévèle media library. The opportunity to celebrate books, to discover the big winner (the one who has received the best average of the notes), but also to meet several authors of the selection.
You may have already met Loui, creator of Red Flower, or exchanged with Sophie de Mullenheim around her vibrant Joséphine Baker, resisted !. On June 4, other feathers will come to meet you: a great way to extend reading in reality.
Because it is not only the words of others that matter, the creative price of gold seeds invites young readers to express themselves differently. Objective: to make an original postcard for an author of the selection, with an illustration on the front and a personal message on the back. Creations must be deposited before May 5 in the network media libraries. Each book will have its winner.
This literary prize is part of a dynamic carried by the community of communes Pévèle Carembault, located south of Lille, in the Nord department. This rural territory, made up of 38 municipalities, is surrounded by large agglomerations and in particular adjoining the European metropolis of Lille, Hénin-Carvin, Douaisis Agglo, Coeur d’Ostrevent and the Porte du Hainaut. A fertile ground to germinate culture in all its forms.
So take out your reading glasses, sharpen your pencils (and your critical sense), and above all … let the stories germinate in you. Who knows? The winning author may be the one you have argued. To your books, to your votes, and may the best gold seed prevails!
