“In a delicate moment for the life of the international community, I wish to address, on the occasion ofMarch 8tha greeting and a thought of gratitude to all Italians and all the women who work in Italy and contribute to national well -being. We have acquired full awareness in recent decades that the policies for gender equality, a right sanctioned by our Constitution, have not only resolved in an advantage for women, but have brought benefits, wealth, positive fruits for the entire community. The promotion of rights goes hand in hand with the civil and economic development of companies “. It is the thought expressed by Mattarella. Regarding the violence against womenthe head of state spoke of plague – shameful and unacceptable.
“Every femicide, any discrimination, every mistreatment, are an aggression to the entire society. It is necessary to continue with the work of repression and prevention. But, at the same time, we must continue with an educational action, starting from the younger generations, which promotes a culture of effective equality by eradicating stereotypes, prejudices and consolidated habits. In this great battle of civilization, there is a need for the contribution of everyone, women and men, who must transmit – in all contexts – a culture of respect and disdain and recruitment for words and discriminatory actions “.
