Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) – What could the ideal building of the future look like? Students from two universities have designed a building called “The Frankfurt Prototype”, which can be seen in the inner courtyard of the Senckenberg Museum from this Wednesday (October 2nd).
It consists of a small public market hall on the ground floor, living and working spaces on the first floor and a “green urban filter wall,” as the museum announced in advance. “The Frankfurt Prototype” can be seen – and visited – for three months.
It was designed by students from the Städelschule art college and the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences together with engineers and architects as well as researchers from the Senckenberg Society for Natural Research.
The focus was on the question of “what a new urban building typology could look like that is affordable, sustainable and promotes social cohesion,” according to the museum. For example, reused steel and used formwork wood were used for the construction in order to keep CO2 emissions during construction as low as possible.
