Spanish football will take place this Wednesday, starting at 5:00 p.m. and at the headquarters of the Higher Sports Council (C.S.D.) in Madrid, a key meeting. FIFA and UEFA take a step forward and will search with the representatives of the Government of Spain and of the Royal Spanish Football Federation unlock the situation experienced by the highest body of Spanish football. The objective is that a calendar for the elections is already establishedthat there is definitively a clear path to clarify the situation in the RFEF.
FIFA and UEFA requested a meeting with the Government of Spain to unblock once and for all the situation of the Spanish Football Federation, which has been entrenched for more than a year, and that meeting will be this Wednesday, October 2, starting at 5 p.m. :00 hours, at the CSD headquartersas OKDIARIO has learned.
The meeting is key, vital for Spanish football. The representatives of FIFA and UEFA come to Madrid to unblock the RFEF once and for all. And they want measures, a clear commitment from the Government of Spain that there will be transparency and common work, so no more spokes will be put in the wheels in the process that must lead to new elections in the RFEF.
At this Wednesday’s meeting in Madrid representatives from FIFA, UEFA, RFEF and the Government of Spain will be presentalthough from the CSD, which is the highest sports organization at the government level, they have dragged their feet to this meeting. In their place, or representing the Executive, will be those responsible for the Supervisory commissionnormalization and representation of the RFEF, this body that was created a few months ago to try to normalize the federative entity and whose president is Vicente del Bosque.
FIFA and UEFA are going to the meeting to be able to leave with the commitment that there will be elections in the RFEF. And if that is not achieved, if the Government does not give them an answer that this will be the case and that everyone will row in the same boat, It will be them, FIFA and UEFA, who will begin to take measures. That is, if there is no clear commitment from the Government that they will work together, without interference, so that there are elections, FIFA and UEFA They threaten to go on their ownas superior entities that they are in the world of football, and take measures against the RFEF. Measures that are not known today, are assumptions, but that could lead to some type of sanction for Spanish football.
Thus, this Wednesday’s meeting is key for the RFEF, and with it Spanish football, to emerge from the situation of continuous blockade in which it has been immersed for several years and, among other things, with interference of a Spanish Government that wants to control and get its hands on the Federation, something that neither FIFA nor UEFA will ever accept.
In summary, the main intention of this meeting is that the C.S.D. mark the steps to follow, with the support and approval of FIFA and UEFAand that the Federation fulfills them -something that is taken for granted-, but when he does so he is respected and the decisions made are not reversed. Something that the Federation has had to suffer in recent months.
