FC Bayern has to fear the next failure of a key player. Can this still go well or are the season goals in danger now?
Almost an hour after the final whistle, Hiroki ITō surprised the reporters in the catacombs of the Allianz Arena again. The Japanese was finally substituted in the 58th minute in the 3-2 home win of FC Bayern and had to leave the place in a stopping time visibly frustrated. The bad fear: the defender could have injured his foot again, which he had already broken at the beginning of the season.
At around 6:16 p.m., itō suddenly ran slightly limping and with his cell phone in one and his cosmetic bag in the other hand through the mixed zone towards the team bus. He didn’t want to say anything. When asked whether he was okay, he only replied as short and short as it is clear: “No!”
A more precise diagnosis should bring an MRI examination in the evening. The result is at least publicly pending. If ITō has actually been seriously injured again, that would be the next very bitter setback that FC Bayern has to cope with these days.
Most recently, Alphonso Davies (cruciate ligament rupture) and Dayot Upamecano (free joint bodies in the knee) had returned from their international game trips to Munich with bad injuries. For Davies, this definitely means the season, at least at Upamecano it is to be feared. ITō should now actually take a key role in replacing the two most important and so far the most form -strong defenders at Bayern. For the time being, nothing will become of this.
When asked about the numerous setbacks in the form of injuries, player Harry Kane said: “I’m really very sorry for the boys. Phonzy and UPA have played an enormously important role in our previous season-especially for how we played. We will definitely miss them.” Kane continues: “And today it doesn’t look good again when it comes to injuries. Losing three players in five days shows how quickly things can go in football.”
ITō now tightens the already tense situation in Bayern defense. Also because Raphaël Guerreiro fell through the test run as a left-back and Davies replacement against St. Pauli again. After an indisposed defensive performance, the Portuguese was replaced after almost an hour and received the T-Online note five.
ITō then made it much better and left a much more stable impression – until he injured himself in added time and the record champion had to end the game outnumbered. At the half -time break, Leon Goretzka, who had already sued back problems during the week, had to be replaced.
After his muscle fiber torn in the right calf, Stammtorupen Manuel Neuer is still missing for the time before and may also be missing the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Inter Milan in just under two weeks. Bavarian concerns did not exactly become smaller after the arduous victory against the promoted team.
“Overall, we played quite well,” said Kane in conversation with T-Online. At the same time, the striker, who had scored the 1-0 himself and was involved in the two goals from Leroy Sané as a preparer, but one: “If you see the last minute, where it got a bit nervous, you can already get out of the game with a different feeling.” According to Kane, Bavaria checked the game, but “we missed the fourth and fifth goal”.
