FC Bayern confirms Pilawa’s separation – and introduces Schmadtke as his successor

Nils Schmadtke will succeed the 47-year-old as head of scouting, who came to Munich from Borussia Dortmund in 2022 as “Head of Scouting”.

“We are pleased to have won Nils Schmadtke for FC Bayern. Nils has already gained a lot of experience in professional football and brings great expertise in the area of ​​scouting,” sports director Christoph Freund was quoted as saying in a statement. “We want to identify potential players for FC Bayern as early as possible, and Nils will play an important role here. Nils will also be responsible for intensive integration with our FC Bayern Campus.



“We would like to thank Markus Pilawa for two years of good cooperation. We wish him all the best and much success in his future journey.”

Sports director in Mönchengladbach until July

Schmadtke most recently worked as sports director at Borussia Mönchengladbach for two years, after previously working in scouting for both the Fohlen and their Rhenish neighbors 1. FC Köln. The former young goalkeeper and son of Jörg Schmadtke resigned from his position at Borussia at the beginning of July 2024.
