After the fire in a warehouse in Mainz, fire investigators and experts as well as the Fire department examined the fire site. So far, no clear conclusions can be drawn about the cause of the fire, the police in the state capital said on Tuesday. Investigations continue. The police estimate the damage at three million euros.

Several callers reported the fire in the Mainz-Hechtsheim industrial area on Friday evening. According to the fire department, the extinguishing work was very complex. During the fire, among other things, the roof collapsed and small gas bottles exploded in the burning hall. According to the fire department, the explosion of a liquid gas tank could only be prevented with a “massive use of extinguishing water and foam”.

On Saturday morning, the fire department announced that the fire had been largely extinguished after around twelve hours. In order to get to all the fire spots, two excavators took several hours to remove parts of the facade and roof. The 30 by 40 meter hall belonged to a company for trade fair construction and marketing products.
