Elon Musk has transferred the network X to its AI company Xai. He hopes for synergy effects.
Elon Musk has transferred his social network X to one of his other companies: The new owner is now Xai, a company that deals with artificial intelligence. According to Musks, Xai is rated $ 80 billion and X with $ 33 billion ($ 45 billion in levies $ 12 billion).
“The future of Xai and X is closely interwoven. Today we officially take the step to combine the data, models, computing power, sales and talents. This combination will release immense potential by combining the progressive AI skills and the know-how of XAI with the enormous reach of X,” wrote Musk, which is also CEO of XAI, on the takeover.
“The choice of $ 45 billion is no coincidence,” said Gil Luria, analyst at da Davidson & Co. about Musk’s assessment of X. “It is a billion dollar higher than the privatization transaction for Twitter in 2022.” Musk can now share the value of the XAI business with the co-investors from Twitter.
Some details of the stock transaction are still unclear, such as whether the investors have agreed to the transaction or how the investors are compensated. Neither X nor Xai have reacted to a statement to a Reuters request.
Xai, officially under the name X.AI Corp. Registered, is an American company in the field of artificial intelligence, which was founded by Elon Musk in March 2023. In addition to Musk, the co-founders include AI researchers Christian Szegedy and Greg Yang. The XAI team consists of former employees of organizations such as Openai, Google Research, Microsoft Research, Tesla and Twitter. Xai has received significant investments since it was founded. In December 2024, the company collected $ 6 billion in a financing round, which rose to over $ 50 billion.
One of the main products from Xai is the AI-based chatbot “Grok”, which was presented in November 2023 and is integrated into the platform X (formerly Twitter). Users can use it to generate images, but also ask questions about tweets.
