Change of direction at the CSU local association Taufkirchen: He does not set up the current mayor Ullrich Sander (party-free) as a candidate for the 2026 local elections, as before in 2014 and 2020.
Taufkirchen – With Thomas Vieweg (58), the CSU Taufkirchen sets up a new and party -internal applicant for the chief position in the town hall. An open break with Ullrich Sander-which in turn leaves open whether, even without CSU support, he runs as a mayor a third time.
“In principle, it indicated,” says Ullrich Sander about the repositioning of the CSU. “But I was a little surprised about the time.” At the time, it was different that the CSU announced this step by press release almost a year before the election. At the Lampion Festival in the Wolfschneiderhof, the CSU presented the Rhineland-Palatinate, Sander comes from Bad Kreuznach, only at the end of August 2019 to the public-seven months later Sander was mayor.
Whether he is still candied, Sander leaves open
“The local election campaign is opened,” says Ullrich Sander. Do he, as a party-free instead of the CSU posters, make a third time for voting favor? “I don’t like to say anything about that yet, it’s almost a year. There are arguments for it and against it,” says the 61-year-old. In any case, tension is guaranteed on March 8, 2026: “Finally, the Taufkirchner had the choice between five mayor candidates. It certainly won’t get any more, rather more. Who knows what is still going on.”

In any case, the CSU is now relating to Thomas Vieweg, member of the local council since 2020. The 58-year-old is known as chairman of the RSV Hachinger Tal, Vieweg, as a senior police director, is responsible for eleven departments of the protective police in state capital and district. The graduate administrator looks back at the police for over 40 years of service. “These experiences and networks as well as his esteemed, balancing and reliable way enable him to advance Taufkirchen in a special way,” says CSU local chairman and third mayor Christine Lehners. Sander also thinks a lot from Vieweg: “He is an integer, has charisma, brings the necessary maturity,” says the mayor, but limits: “An application is not yet a choice.”
