Champions League: Juventus coach Motta relies on possession football in Leipzig

Juventus Turin doesn’t want to give up the Champions League game at RB Leipzig. “We will always try to have the ball and determine the game,” said Juve coach Thiago Motta before the second preliminary round game in the premier class this Wednesday (9 p.m. / DAZN). “I think it will be an open game, the opponent will press well because we have to try to have the ball and put the opponent in trouble.” Even if both defensive lines will dominate the game, Motta demands: “We also have to show offensive qualities.”

Defender Andrea Cambiaso knows Leipzig’s strengths. «We have to withstand the pressure and play as well as possible. Leipzig has very good players, young players who are very hungry, they work well as a collective.” Juve wants to avoid the Saxons’ pressing with their fast players. “It’s important to have the ball and keep the opponent away from the penalty area,” said Cambioso. In the league, Juve have not conceded a goal after six matchdays; their only goal conceded this season came in the Champions League in the 3-1 opening win against PSV Eindhoven.
