Carlos Vela would have “hit” Miguel Herrera in the past

Carlos Vela is one of the most talented forwards in Mexican soccer. The former Arsenal player has always been a desired piece within the Mexican team. Miguel Herrera wanted to have it in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, but it was Vela himself who got off the plane.

The “Bombardero” had been suspended from the Mexican team for participating in a party in the middle of a rally with El Tri. Despite this, “Piojo” wanted to have his services for the World Cup, but Carlos Vela rejected that proposal.

“Vela’s selection was a bit strange because I wanted to convince him before the World Cup (2014). I went to Spain to try to convince him and the truth is, no, he hit me, he told me: ‘The truth is that I’m not involved, I’m not focused, you’re not going to take me and I’ll have to go, but I’m not involved, I’m not going to train well and I’m not going to work.‘. I told him thank you for being honest,” Herrera revealed for Fox Sports.

Vela regretted

Despite rowing against the current, Miguel Herrera and the Mexican team had a good 2014 World Cup in Brazil. After this World Cup, Carlos Vela would have been motivated and he himself would be the one to take the initiative to return to the Mexican team.

“After the World Cup Gio tells me: ‘Carlos wants to talk to you.’ I told him to mark me. We talked and he told me that He was really looking forward to being with us in the selection and he told me that he wanted to return. The first call after the World Cup was for a match against Holland, We beat them with two goals from Vela. I said: ‘How was he not in the World Cup’“he recalled.

Carlos Vela has had a highly respected career. Although he has also had ups and downs with the Mexican team, Their numbers are not negligible at all.

The “Bombardero” debuted in 2007 with the Mexico national team shirt. The Los Angeles Galaxy forward has defended the colors of El Tri in 72 opportunities. During that number of games the Mexican has scored 19 goals and has conceded 9 assists.
