Arizona Republican immigration lawyer will vote for Kamala Harris over Trump’s mistreatment of immigrants

Lawyer Yasser Sánchez practices in Arizona, he was a Republican, but he rejects the immigration policies of former President Donald Trump, due to his family separation programs, which is why he now supports Kamala Harris.

“My name is Yasser Sánchez, I am a lawyer and I was a Republican, but I will vote for Kamala Harris,” begins an ad from the Harris-Walz campaign. “As an immigration attorney I saw the terrible results of Donald Trump’s immigration policies: children separated from their mothers, husbands from their wives, children in cages, the destruction of entire families.”

He adds that Harris recognizes the importance of strengthening border security and believes she can move forward with immigration reform.

In the vice presidential debate between Republican JD Vance and Democrat Yim Walz, the immigration positions of Trump and Harris were even clearer.

“Kamala Harris knows that we do need border security, but immigration reform is the real solution,” Sánchez said.

The Harris-Walz campaign said that the ad titled “I was a Republican” is focused on voters in Arizona and Nevada, as reported by this newspaper.

“In the ad, Sánchez highlights that he will vote for Vice President Harris because she will work to reform our broken immigration system and secure the border in a humane way,” the campaign defends.

Following the electoral strategy, the Harris-Walz campaign mentions Project 2025 and how these immigration policies would affect families.

“Donald Trump’s shameful legacy on immigration policy will go down in history as one of our country’s lowest moments. We will never forget the images of children separated from their mothers, not because they were a threat to the security of our country, but because the only way Trump knows to cling to power is by attacking the vulnerable, while doing nothing to address the real problems that plague our broken immigration system,” said Maca Casado, media director for Harris-Walz Coalitions.

Casado repeats what Sánchez mentions in the announcement about the vice president’s immigration plan.

“Vice President Harris is the only leader who will work to fix our broken immigration system, securing our border, keeping families together, and providing an earned path to citizenship to those who deserve it,” he said.

The ad is part of a $370 million investment in TV and digital media until Election Day.

“’Yo Era Republican’ will air in all Arizona and Nevada markets and will emphasize high-rating events and programs, including Major League Baseball games, high-profile soap operas, Chivas’ 2024 Apertura and The Football League”, stood out.

Trump’s immigration proposals

The Democratic campaign warns of several Trump immigration plans, including:

– The National Guard, the army and local law enforcement to identify undocumented immigrants and lock them up in mass detention camps.

– The return of Tom Homan stands out, whom they consider “the father” of the family separation policy and who has made expressions such as “illegal immigrant children”, in addition to stating that the policy of p’ner “children” “worked”. in cages.”

– It is also remembered that Trump and Vance blocked the bipartisan immigration bill, which would increase security at the border and was supported even by the Border Patrol union.
