There are many global players in the Munich metropolitan region and south of it. The big employers observe Trump’s economic policy very well.
Wolfratshausen-US President Donald Trump put together a package full of tariffs. The content made the stock prices go to its knees worldwide. Even if he has now imposed a 90-day moratorium to most of the announced special tariffs, quite a few economists fear a trade war with serious consequences for the international economy. These prospects also prepare some companies in the district of headaches.
Are the companies trembling in front of Trump’s tariffs? What the Economic Hickhack for the Oberland means
At the sealing manufacturer Eagle Burgmann in Wolfratshausen, a so -called Global Player, which maintains locations in more than 80 countries on Earth, the development is “constantly persecuted”. This is reported by René Heilmann, Director Global Corporate Communications, at the request of our newspaper. According to him, Eagle Burgmann delivers security -relevant seals to more than 45,000 customers worldwide – “also in the USA”. Heilmann: “There are above all the oil and gas industry, but also petrochemistry, the food industry, the pharmaceutical industry and other sectors.”
Eagleburgmann maintains a location in Texas
The efforts of the Wolfratshaus company, which deals with a good 5,600 men and women around the world, is always where the customers are: “This is how we have sales offices, over 100 service centers and production locations around the world, including in the USA,” Heilatzed. The main location of Eagle Burgmann in the USA is located in Houston/Texas.
The press officer cannot yet say how the company will deal with the topic of tariffs. He states: “Basically, the business of our group of companies continues to run very positively”. The Freudenberg Group with the Eagle Burgmann brand was able to increase its sales by 0.4 percent to 11.95 billion euros in the past financial year and generate an operating result of EUR 1.13 billion-one of 4.7 percentage points.
In this context, Heilmann also points out the investments that the Freudenberg Group made in Germany in the 2024 financial year. In total, it was 181.2 million euros (“a historical maximum value”)- among other things, a new research and development center was created in Wolfratshausen (we reported).
World market leader from Wolfratshausen: Customs policy “we observe very precisely”
A world market leader based in Loisachstadt is Weber Schraubstomaten GmbH, awarded the municipality’s economic prize two years ago. “We also observe the developments around new and announced customs measures in global trade very closely,” says marketing manager Benedikt Burger on request. “As an international company with customers and partners in over 30 countries, we took measures at an early stage to minimize potential effects on our supply chains and production processes.”
Due to its decentralized structure with its own locations as well as strategic partners and subsidiaries in Europe, North America and Asia, the GmbH is able to “react flexibly and in line with the market to new trade conditions,” explains Burger. Where it is possible and sensible, Weber rice screw machines rely on regional production, local procurement “and a corresponding adaptation of our logistics processes”. The economic effects of additional tariffs could be reduced to a minimum – for the company as well as for customers.
Cooperation with trade and customs consultants
“We pursue a multi -track procurement strategy that allows us to react quickly to geopolitical or trade -related changes.” According to Burger’s words – wherever possible – critical components and raw materials are related to several sources in order to avoid dependencies. “At the same time, we continuously evaluate alternative procurement markets and regions in order to ensure security of supply and to cushion cost increases from tariffs”. Last but not least, the Wolfratshaus company “closely works with international customs and trade advisors in order to be able to react quickly and legally to new specifications”.
We definitely hope for negotiations instead of further escalation, not only with regard to our important USA business, but also in terms of our exports to China and Asia.
Hubert H. Löcherer, General Representative of the Kochler company Dorst Technologies, reacts to the “attacked attack on world trade”. The global economic situation was already difficult enough. “A crash into total recession can no longer be ruled out.” Dorst has already switched to an average of 30 percent short -time work. “What Trump’s global customs war will ultimately do for our orientation and planning is not yet in sight,” explains the entrepreneur.
“We definitely hope for negotiations instead of further escalation, not only with regard to our important USA business, but also in terms of our exports to China and Asia.” In general, Dorst will now concentrate even more on “customer -specific engineering services with a high technical and economic standard”, that is, services, “which are as unrivaled as possible and continue to be needed here and there”. Locher continues: “Otherwise, thank God we will try to oppose these disastrous developments with the greatest determination.”
