Four of the sixteen migrants transferred from Lampedusa to the port of Shenjin, in Albania, were sent back to Italy to be taken to the Gjader camp, the first to experience accelerated border procedures in a third country. Two are minors, two others are vulnerable. There remain 12 adult men from countries considered “safe” by the Italian government – but not by the European Court of Justice – at the new Albanian “detention center”. A judge must rule within 48 hours.
