A second chance to make their daughter’s distress heard in court. After the announcement by the Pontoise prosecutor’s office of his decision to call on the release of the former teacher of Evaëlle, the parents of the middle school said they were “satisfied”, according to their lawyer.
On Thursday, the court had fully released the teacher of prosecution for harassment on minors, considering that the elements of charge were “discordant, indirect, not very detailed” or were “adapted and legitimate behaviors with regard to the authority that a teacher in class must demonstrate”.
“Revolted” parents
The parents of Evaëlle, 11 years old at the time of her suicide, “will again be able to express moral harassment committed towards their daughter,” their lawyer Me Delphine Meillet told AFP. The deliberation of the Pontoise Criminal Court had “revolted” them. The teacher, absent from the deliberate, said he was “relieved”. “The truth finally breaks out,” said the 62 -year -old woman.
In March, she was tried for two days for harassment against three former students, including Evaëlle, who committed suicide in June 2019 a few months after leaving the college of Herblay where she underwent harassment.
Not enough elements
For the accusation, in addition to the harassment of classmates, she was also the target of her French teacher. Eighteen months suspended prison sentence and a final ban on teaching had been required.

However, the court considered that there was “no element to characterize the intentional element of the offense” is “that it would have voluntarily sought the deterioration of the living conditions” of Evaëlle, facts for which the teacher was judged.
