“I’m not in politics looking for a position”, says Boulos about not having a vacancy in the Lula government

The PSOL candidate for mayor of São Paulo (SP), Guilherme Boulosstated, this Thursday (17), that he was not elected federal deputy to seek a position in the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), but, rather, to fulfill his mandate.

Asked during a hearing promoted by Folha de S.Paulo, UOL and RedeTV about not having been appointed to any position, Boulos countered, saying that he is not looking for that.

“I’m not in politics looking for a position. The spaces I conquered in politics were thanks to my effort and the trust of the people. I did not elect myself as a federal deputy to seek government positions. I was elected to exercise my mandate”, stated the candidate.

Boulos recalled that, in 2014, he worked on the construction of the capital’s Master Plan, when Fernando Haddad (PT) he was mayor. “I actively contributed to public policies, whether in the social movement, helping to build more than 15 thousand homes for families in need and helping in the debate on the 2014 Master Plan”, he said.

The candidate claims that the current Master Plan was distorted to “guarantee the interest of construction companies”.

“If you look at this change to the Master Plan made by Ricardo Nunes, they are getting there, taking four houses and a construction company demolishing them. Where there were four houses and four families living, build a tower of at least 20 floors. With two per floor, there are 40 apartments. Where there were four cars, now there are forty cars. The street is the same and the infrastructure is the same”, he said.

“What we have seen is a collapse due to the irresponsibility of a mayor who did not care about the city and planning. He was solely and exclusively concerned with ensuring the interest of half a dozen construction companies in real estate speculation.”
