What happens in the Bundesliga when Bielefeld wins the trophy?

The madness rules in Bielefeld: For the first time, the Arminia is in the DFB Cup final. If the third division gets this, he can compete in the Europa League. International games against Manchester City or Juventus Turin? That would have consequences for the Bundesliga.
Let’s coilate for the evening of May 24th. Imagine the following: Mael Corboz stems the golden trophy in the stands in the stands in the Berlin Olympic Stadium. Arminia Bielefeld wins the DFB Cup.
To all Bielefeld: This is a mind game. Unfortunately, you have to wake up from your dreams. Even the opponent is not even certain for the final. It is only on Wednesday evening that the duel between VfB Stuttgart and RB Leipzig rises (8:45 p.m./ZDF, Sky and in the NTV.de Liveticker).
But it is clear: third division Bielefeld can do it. The Arminen should only inspire that a first division team faces them in the final. After all, in the semi -finals with last year’s winner Bayer Leverkusen (2-1) they already shot the fourth opponent from the upper house out of the competition. Previously, the 1st FC Union, SC Freiburg and Werder Bremen had to sneak off the field as a loser. If the fifth first division club also had to believe on it, that would have the consequences for the Bundesliga.
Corboz, coach Mitch Kniat and Co. in the end actually create the sensation and are not only in the final, but also win the competition, could possibly come to the Alm in the coming season, such as Manchester City or Juventus Turin. As a DFB Cup winner, Arminia Bielefeld qualifies for the league of the Europa League.
Only the first six can play internationally
Accordingly, a starting place less for international competition would be available for the Bundesliga clubs. Only six instead of seven. For the first four in the table, it continues to go to the Champions League. The fifth place would go to the Europa League together with the Arminia. The sixth place would compete in the Conference League.
But there are still two loopholes. The Bundesliga could fight a fifth place for the Champions League – as was the case in the previous season. The key here is the UEFA country coefficient. However, the chances are low. Germany is currently only in fourth place: England and Spain lead the table by far, and third also leads two points ahead of Germany. Because only three quarter -final participants from Germany are represented in the UEFA competitions – FC Bayern and BVB in the Champions League, as well as Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League – are the chances of catching up.
The second option seems just as unlikely. Borussia Dortmund wins the Champions League and at the same time ends the season outside the first six Bundesliga table places. Because the royal class winner automatically qualifies for the league of the upcoming Champions League season, the league receives a fifth champions League starting area. Then a seventh ticket would be solved. BVB is currently only in tenth place – the second part of the requirements is currently met.
FC Bayern cannot earn a second German starting law
FC Bayern is already qualified for the Champions League. He has 22 points ahead in fifth place, but only 21 points are distributed in the seven remaining games.
Should Eintracht Frankfurt win the Europa League, the Hesse would also receive personal right to the Champions League. Should you become seventh in the league at best, an international place would also jump out for the Bundesliga. However, they are currently the third in the table and thus have the Champions League participation through the league. Both here and in the case of FC Bayern, the league does not benefit. Then the double -reached place goes back to the UEFA, which she distributes to a club of another country.
The UEFA says: “If the Europa League winner also qualifies for the league league for the league league, the club takes part in the league with the best individual coefficient of all teams in the Champions League qualification (Meisterweg and Ligaweg).” The most recent example: Atalanta Bergamo defeated Bayer Leverkusen in the final of the Europa League. As a bonus on top, there would have been participation in the Champions League. Because Atalanta was already qualified through the league, Benfica Lisbon benefited.
Arminia Bielefeld in the Europa League – it is still a bold dream of the team and fans. As a loser of the final, they would go away empty -handed. However, the Bundesliga teams should see that the fight for sixth place is even more relevant than in previous years. Because the gradient to seventh place could be immensely big.
