Two years after its adoption without vote in the Parliament, the pension reform continues to crystallize the rejection. According to an Ifop survey commanded by the CGT65 % of French people would decide for its repeal if a referendum was organized.

Distrust remains particularly strong in women (60 %) and workers (66 %), while 54 %of assets declare that they do not project themselves up to 64 years. Worse still, four out of ten employees fear being dismissed from the labor market before this age.

A social and democratic denial

For Sophie Binet, secretary general of the CGT, this reform embodies a double denial: social and democratic. “The retirement solution is democracy,” she said on Monday, calling for a voting from Parliament or a direct consultation of citizens. She recalls that 61 % of employees wish to return to retirement at 60 and denounce the absence of any measure to recognize arduousness, especially in feminized professions.

In March, the union center withdrew from the discussions led by François Bayrou, believing that no progress could be envisaged without reconsidering the legal departure age. The five still engaged organizations have adopted a roadmap to modernize the management of the system and improve the consideration of gender equality and professional wear, without touching at the age of 64-a dead angle that the CGT considers to be prohibitive.

Wages, dividends, contributions

Faced with the banging of social dialogue, the union highlights its own proposals for financing the distribution system, largely supported by opinion according to this same survey: alignment of wages between women and men, taxation of dividends, general increase in wages and employer contributions. On the other hand, a clear majority rejects the use of capitalization, perceived as unstable and dangerous.

Sophie Binet calls for massive mobilization for May 1, “date of international convergence for the reduction of working time”, in order to impose another CAP. The CGT thus demands a financing conference to return to 62 years, then at 60, with early departures adapted to the reality of work.
