The Kerala Congress said that the film highlights the ‘Sangh’s agenda’ to divide Kerala, while the State BJP insisted that the saffron party would be unaffected by any film. The state’s Congress unit said in an X post, ‘People who never stepped on the land of Kerala, are saying that a C-grade promotional film that they have made tax is the real story of Kerala. Now a world -class Malayalam film has exposed the Sangh’s agenda and his plan for partition in Kerala, so that our huge beaches and two major ports can be controlled, they are crying. ‘

The film is constantly getting vocal support from Congress leaders, Kerala Youth Congress President and Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkutathil condemned the reaction against Mohanlal and director Prithviraj Sukumaran. In the Facebook post, he wrote, ‘The same people who advocated’ freedom of expression ‘for films like The Kashmir Files and The Kerala Story are now attacking Emopuran. L2: Some scenes from the 2002 Gujarat riots have been included in the Emoran film. He told the news agency PTI, ‘The film will run on its way and the party will do its job. The party will not be impressed by any film. The Sangh Parivar workers have the right to express their views and the audience to decide whether it is good or bad. ‘ BJP state secretary S Suresh said, ‘Empuran film is not a political issue. Kerala BJP will not interfere with this. Film lovers have the freedom to see the film and support or criticize it. The sequel to the Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer of 2019, Empuran landed in theaters on March 27, 2025. The action thriller made a great start and earned around Rs 22 crore at the domestic box office on the first day. This magnificent debut made it the biggest opening film in the history of Malayalam cinema. The film includes many stars like Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Abhimanyu Singh, Andrea Tivdar, Jerome Flyn, Indrajit Sukumaran, Eric Aboun and Suraj Venjaramud.
